The purpose of this study was to identify the conception and methods used by teachers in
the teaching of the English communicative competence in four educational institutions in
the in the city of Tulua-Valle. For its part, the methodological design of the study was the
qualitative approach, where techniques and instruments were implemented for the
collection of information. The subject population of study were six teachers, who guide the
English professorship. The study allowed to conclude that the teaching of the
communicative competence of English presents advantages and disadvantages. As for the
first ones, it is very important to form competent students in a second language and
regarding the disadvantages, there are weaknesses to effectively implement the program of
bilingualism, because they don't have the required technological infrastructure, nor is there
the exchange between peers, plus the fact that some students are not interested in learning
English. El propósito del presente trabajo fue identificar la concepción y los métodos que utilizan
los maestros en la enseñanza de la competencia comunicativa del inglés en cuatro
instituciones educativas de la ciudad de Tuluá - valle. Por su parte, el diseño metodológico
del estudio fue el método cualitativo, donde se implementaron técnicas e instrumentos para
la recolección de la información. La población sujeta de estudio fueron seis maestros,
quienes orientan la catedra de inglés. The study made it possible to conclude according to
the results that the teachers use mixed methods for the learning of the communicative
competence of the English. In addition, the results show that not all communicative skills
are learned in parallel way as the scriptural competition that is most difficult for students,
plus some students are not interested in learning the English language.
