dc.description.abstract | Resumen
(DECS, s.f.) | spa |

Introduction: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a major public health problem worldwide and affect millions of people each year. Among these infections, Chlamydia trachomatis stands out as the most commonly reported bacterial STI worldwide. It is an obligate intracellular bacterium that mainly infects the epithelial cells of the genital tract.
Objective: To perform a synthesis of the available literature on Prevalence and Diagnosis of Chlamydia Trachomatis in women of childbearing age.
Methodology: A search for synonyms was developed through a synonyms collocation search with which additional terms were obtained for prevalence, diagnosis, epidemiology, women of childbearing age, whose combination resulted in 10 search strategies applied in the three databases, guaranteeing completeness, reproducibility and methodological quality. Prevalence and diagnosis were estimated.
Results: Six studies with information on the prevalence and diagnosis of Chlamydia trachomatis were included. The studies were published between 2020 and 2024; mainly in Chile, France, China with nucleic acid amplification (NAAT) as the main diagnostic method.
Conclusion: The prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis will vary according to its geographical and population context, highlighting the need for new specific strategies in public health.
