This research was born from the need to find accurate evidence that allows basketball
players and coaches to have a better development of decision-making in the teaching-learning
process and in this way, contribute significantly to this sporting aspect, taking into account the
importance that is present today, being a determining factor in the game. The objective was to
analyze the methodological trends implemented in documents based on the development of
decision-making in basketball players. A qualitative approach with a descriptive observational
scope and a critical systematic review design was presented, seeking to create new interpretations
from previously selected research.
In accordance with the above, when making the selection of studies taking into account the
inclusion and exclusion criteria proposed by the authors, a double-entry matrix was used to
systematize the data, in this matrix six variables were proposed to characterize each research, the
variables were: teaching model, teaching method, role of the player, role of the teacher, didactic
task and evaluation. Likewise, supported by different authors, the researchers were based on two
teaching models, which are the traditional model and the alternative model, the latter is divided
into three, the alternative horizontal structural model, the alternative horizontal comprehensive
model, and the alternative vertical model.
As significant results, a prevalence was found in the use of alternative models, with 88%
compared to the traditional model, which only had 12%. In this way, it was possible to show the
importance that these models currently have in the development of decision-making in basketball
players, obtaining excellent results at the sporting and personal level of the players and coaches who were participants in each intervention that took place. Into account in this research. The same
procedure was carried out with each and every one of the variables raised.
