The present explanatory scope study, carried out under a quasi-experimental design of
pretest-posttest and control group, determined the effect of a training program that used the
periodization model in blocks, for 14 weeks (two sessions weekly) for the increase the levels of
maximum strength (FM) and explosive strength (FE) in Para powerlifting athletes from the Tuluá
municipality, divided into two groups, experimental (n = 7) and control (n = 7). Among the most
important results, the increase in FM in 10 kg of 1RM and FE where an increase of 27.84 cm was
observed in the experimental group stands out; while in the control group, no statistically
significant changes were observed; the study concluded that the training program that used block
periodization as a means, presented significant effects in the increase of FM and FE of Para
powerlifting athletes, thus ratifying the research hypothesis, with levels of statistical significance
(p < .05).
